Meet Mr Marwan
Mr Kareem Marwan is a consultant general surgeon with subspecialty in colorectal (lower gastrointestinal) surgery. His practice is largely minimally invasive [laparoscopic (keyhole) & Robotic] when appropriate. He also has a keen interest in endoscopy and advanced endoscopic surgery.
Mr Marwan has a public appointment in Eastern Health Hospitals and a specialist surgical practice in the eastern suburbs private hospitals.
Background and Training
Mr. Marwan obtained his Australasian fellowship in Surgery in February 2012 after training at St Vincent’s Hospital, the Alfred and Monash Medical Centre. He then spent 18 months in Colchester, UK where he undertook a fellowship followed by consultant post in colorectal and advanced laparoscopic surgery. Colchester hospital is a leading centre in keyhole and bowel surgery. Prior to General surgical training, Mr. Marwan completed advanced paediatric surgery training in Paris, France (2000).
Mr. Marwan is keen on education and training, with membership of the Academy of Surgical Educators at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is a member of international professional organisations including the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain & Ireland, the European Society of Coloproctology, and the Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
