Meet Mr Marwan
Mr Kareem Marwan is a consultant general surgeon with subspecialty in colorectal (lower gastrointestinal) surgery. His practice is largely minimally invasive (Robotic / Laparoscopic) when appropriate. He also performs upper and lower GI endoscopy and advanced lower GI endoscopic surgery.
Mr Marwan has a public appointment in Eastern Health Hospitals and a specialist surgical practice in the eastern suburbs' private hospitals.
Background and Training
Mr. Marwan obtained his surgical fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in February 2012, after training at St Vincent’s Hospital, the Alfred Hospital and Monash Medical Centre. He subsequently undertook a subspecialty training fellowship in colorectal surgery in the UK (Colchester). Colchester Hospital NHS trust is a leading centre which pioneered laparoscopic bowel surgery.
Prior to General surgical training, Mr. Marwan had completed advanced paediatric surgery training in Paris, France.
Mr. Marwan values education and training, and is a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators (ASE) at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is also a member of international professional organisations including the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain & Ireland (ACPGBI), the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP), and the Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd).
